Home Course Advantage

When most people talk about their home course they are usually referring to either the course they learned to play disc golf at or the course where they most frequently play disc golf. When I say ‘home course’ I mean like in my front yard kind of home course. The Hyzer Ground course is not a course in the traditional sense. It is a mix of different tee pads throwing to one of 5 baskets. The course (originally named Abridged) was designed to allow for the maximum amount of fun and practice in the shortest amount of time and space. With such a limited footprint the placement of the baskets and tee pads was critical to maximize the potential. My goal was to be able to stand at a tee pad and have several baskets to aim at to create as many different lines/angles as possible. This allows for practicing with many different discs/shots while not having to walk from hole to hole. Also I wanted every hole to be an opportunity for a hole-in-one because almost nothing is as fun as a good ace!

Another goal was to have a place to introduce people to the sport of disc golf. The holes are just long enough to challenge new players while not being so long they might discourage anyone. Hyzer Ground has already hosted many new players and seems to be meeting that goal.

If you get a chance, come on over and throw some discs. Or, if you would like to improve or your game, book a lesson to get guided instruction.
